#RECAP Last night #TheFreestyleExperiment
Let me try to paint the picture. A 3 piece band is jamming out (Drums, Keys, Bass, Horn) Juan Presyce Cervantes is cutting up a previous recorded vocal phrase "Coming to the Stage" and "Freestyle" I come up and spit an 8 bar Freestyle that ends with me saying "Mike Sick". Then DJ Presyce cuts up and scratches "MIKE SICK" as the hook while I'm hyping the crowd up. All the while.....all the while Amond Jackson of Salem Psalms Studios is in the background making 2 beats (not just 1, no we're over achievers) utilizing 3 samples selected from 3 random records picked out my the audience. And the 2 joints he made, FUEGO! Jameleon Ash'Sharqiyah set the cypher off real GRIMEY like.
Now it wouldn't be right if we just kept it Hip-Hop so what happened was #God sent down an angel named Jennifer Zuiff (Indie Killed The Pop Star) armed with an acoustic guitar to fight the evils of the mundane monatiny of music the world accusomed to. The #ATL3 band didn't miss a beat despite the 2 or 3 movements and change ups in her songs. You would of thought they've been playing together for years. See its not just Hip-Hop. No, we covered everything from Rock (Stickz Greenz) to Ukele with our homie Amber singing "Somewhere over the fu**ing rainbow". This live music experience and #TheFreestyleExperiment is bigger then Hip-Hop. Its about CREATION. That moment of inspiration and living in the moment. FREEDOM. Phene Highofflife blessed us with a live rendition of his single "I Don't Care" with a Freestyle to cap it off. NZero Nz & Vici Royàl raised the damn roof with a Freestyle Hook that went "Win motherfu**er, you say you gonna win, well when motherfu**er?". ATL new comer Frenche came all the way from LA before his flight to Jamacia to partake in activities now legal in Washington and Colorado (and soon Georgia we all hope).
If you came through drop a comment below. If you missed it....shame on you. But don't trip. The audio from the entire night will be up shortly at www.soundcloud.com/savagefampro
and we will be right back at Apache Cafe Sept. 2nd.
Mad props, respect and admiration goes out to Amond Jackson & DJ Presyce. We've got to do this again!
